About the shelter |
Community PartnersThe Macomb County Winter Shelter, a program of the WAVE Project, was born from the belief that it takes the entire community to ensure our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a safe place to spend the night during the cold winter months. For the 100 men and women, on average, seeking refuge with us each night, the Macomb County Winter Shelter offers a warm, nourishing and dignified respite.
As a not-for-profit, the Macomb County Winter Shelter must rely on the compassion and commitment of churches, organizations and businesses that share our conviction that serving the less fortunate among us is a calling we all share. As we head into the bitter cold months ahead, please partner with the Macomb County Winter Shelter by providing the vital funds we need to serve the nearly 750 individual men and women we expect to house this winter season. Please partner with us by financially supporting our mission with a minimum donation of $1000. We welcome the opportunity to work with you in making a difference in people's lives!

Our WhyIn the cold winter months the lack of emergency shelter beds threatens the lives of all living on the streets and in their vehicles. Hundreds of individuals are turned away from shelters each month due to no vacancy. Through a partnership of churches and community leaders, the Macomb County Winter Shelter is dedicated to help our guests find warmth, food, friendship, and hope for a better future. We see the humanity and goodness in everyone who needs help.

Our WhatCurrently, the county has approximately 130 emergency shelter beds. Opening on December 29, 2024, the Macomb County Winter Shelter will provide overnight accommodations and daily food from 7pm - 7am. Guests will be accepted on a first come basis as capacity is limited. Guests are expected to arrive for intake between 7pm and 9pm. Late admissions are allowed only due to employment.
