About the shelter
Warm nights. Safe sleep. Right here in Macomb County.
The ProblemWhen temperatures drop, sleeping outside becomes dangerous. During the 2025 season, 436 neighbors came through our doors seeking safety. Together, we provided 6,330 bed-nights across the season. Each bed-night is a hot meal, a clean space, and real rest. Our average cost per stay was $18.47, well below national benchmarks.
“To just be outside... it breaks your spirit. Trying to find work is rough when you can't present yourself properly.” — Eddie, neighbor, served in Macomb County |
Who We HelpMost of our guests live in the communities we serve every day—Detroit, Warren, Clinton Township, and nearby neighborhoods. They’re adults of all ages, with a median age of 52. One in four report no health insurance. We track this information to guide outreach, target resources, and make every dollar count.
Macomb County has about 130 emergency shelter beds. Our Winter Shelter provides safe overnight lodging and meals from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Check-in runs 7 to 9 p.m., first come, first served, and space is limited. Late entry is available only for guests arriving directly from work. |
How your support helpsAt our shelter, staff and volunteers welcome each guest with dignity.
We run lean and measure outcomes. Your gift turns into safe nights fast. It keeps cots filled, meals served, and showers available. It also helps us strengthen intake, expand outreach, and improve access to resources where it is needed most. |
